Women's Museum

The Women's Museum s dedicated to the fairer of sex and their immense role in the shaping of the nation. It brings to life the invaluable contributions of women in the past.

A Smithsonian affiliate, The Women's Museum: An Institute for the Future makes visible the unique, textured, and diverse stories of American women. It records their struggle for freedom and equality, at a time when they were denied social, political and religious rights.

Permanent exhibits housed in this impressive building include the Electric Quilt, a 30- foot- high matrix of 35 image patches of illuminated photos, quotes, colors, and video cubes, and the Wall of Words, a display of quotations from notable women in history. Admission is for adults, for seniors and students 13- 18, and for students 5- 12.

Its main role is to address contemporary woman related issues, to enhance the quality of their lives. It is an inspiration to the women of today to rise to greater heights and realize their dreams.
