Highland Park Village's name has gone down in the annals of fame as the first shopping center in America. In the year 2000, it was designated as National Historic landmark.

The seed of developing this shopping center was sown when John S. Armstrong purchased 1,326 acres of land bisected by an old Indian trace later used as a cattle trail, now called Preston Road With the aid of his sons in law, he hired a renowned architect Wilbur David Cook to build a new city. The Village was part of the city. Later many shopping malls were modeled on it. A National Historic Landmark, Highland Park Village is internationally recognized for its architectural significance and world's best known upscale retailers. The Village is home to Chanel, Hermes, Calvin Klein, Escada, Ralph Lauren and Jimmy Choo among others.

The center symbolizes luxury, prestige and opulence Situated amidst 10 acres of landscaped greens, Spanish Plazas and Mediterranean architecture it is a treat to behold. If you feel ravenous after a shopping spree you can head for Café Pacific.
