This relic of the past spells magnificence and grandeur. Affectionately called “Old Red” it is one of the most sublime courthouses in the country. From afar it looks like a castle of the medieval era. This courthouse has engraved its name in the National Register of Historic Places as a City of Dallas Landmark and a Recorded Texas Historical Landmark. It is located in the heart of Downtown Dallas.

Construction of Old Red Courthouse started in 1890. It was designed by famed architect Orlopp and Kusener in the Romanesque style of architecture. Material used in the construction was rough- cut, red Pecos sandstone and trimmed in Arkansas blue granite.

It has spires on each corner of the building which gives it a castle like look. A stunning arched entrance leads you inside its hallowed precincts. Inside the majestic building you can see intricate art work, beautiful arched hallway and quaint colorful glass windows.

Hours: Monday- Friday: 8am- 4:30pm
Saturday and Sunday: by appointment only.
